Our FOSS week

As part of JU student branch continuous efforts to spread awareness about new trends in technology as a technical community , the team organized a public event in corporatinon with the Jordan ubuntu LOCO team to spread the awreness in university of jordan about the GNU/Linux phelosophy .
the week event started with an introductary lecture given by Mr. Khamis SekSikIntroducing FLOSS in the Jordanian way, as well as a brief background of FLOSS history.
In addition, the lecture included Mr.Seksik explaining some reasons to use FLOSS Jordan, as well as comparing selling service VS selling software, and comparing backward compatibility issues between FLOSS and other software.
Other issues discussed by Mr.Sisek were the ethical reasons to use FLOSS. The argument is that using proprietary software without paying for it equal theft and as such is unethical. In many ways, Mr.Siksek highlighted, choosing the right software is a very important decision because it affects time, effort, and money invested in this software.

following this lecture , the preparations for the Linux crash course started , a group of volunteers from the LOCO team accompanied with IEEE officers mass installed ubuntu (a well known linux distribution) on the lab where a crach course about how to switch and use linux as your default operating system is to be given.
